Marion Makes...

Today is a landmark day. Erica told me she wanted to go to bed early. She asked to nurse by sign, then after, grabbed our nursing pillow and kept dramatically laying on it and patting it, gently head butted into my stomach a lot (this usually means she wants something) and babbled in sign until I said, "do you wanna go night-night?" and she answered the positive by touching my hand and smiling.

Crazy. Not only that my kid actually wanted to go to bed early, but that she conveyed that to me. What is life.

On a different "what the..." note, it's been threatening to storm all evening. Distant thunder and lightning growing slowly closer. As I was changing her diaper for the last time of the night, thunder boomed and lightning crackled, in rapid succession, and then the rain started pouring, hard and fast, all at once. It was the kind of timing you see in films, not in real life. It was surprising and atmospheric, and I really appreciated the surreal fun of it.

I've been reading a lot the last couple of days. Finished Robin Hobb's 'Assassin's Apprentice' and started the second in the trilogy.
