Last night Erica wanted to chew her book and I wouldn't let her, and the look she gave me was vividly and specifically indignant, not just formlessly frustrated. She looked at me like "Mom! How dare you?! Let me chew!"
It was wild. She's a little human with little human emotions. How wondrous.
Kurt is sleeping a ton and mostly non-communicative now - maybe a word here, a nod there - but Erica made him laugh, and he gave her kisses today. It was hard to see him so withdrawn, and also so precious to see her draw him out. She's a joy.
My family should be getting here any minute now. We're ready and excited. Erica is fighting sleep, like she doesn't want to miss out on their arrival. Sorry, baby girl. You'll see 'em in the morning.
